US running out of options as sanctions fail to subdue Iran

It was the first time that Netanyahu had identified the site, which he said, was discovered in a trove of Iranian documents Israel previously obtained and released publicly a year ago.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, began a regular meeting of its Board of Governors in Vienna on Monday.

"It's not Iran that needs to be brought back into the fold. everybody needs to re-commit, both sides have legitimate issues", Khouri notes, "the critical thing is to make sure that anything that is discussed is sanctioned by worldwide law, they can't have a negotiation that is defined by what Donald Trump or Mike Pompeo wants, that wouldn't go anywhere because Iranians would refuse it".

Iran has announced its third step to suspend parts of its commitments to the landmark 2015 nuclear accord, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in response to the latest USA sanctions on Tehran and Europe's sluggishness to save the deal. However, Pompeo highlighted that exiting the JCPOA was the best course of action considering that it has had a hugely detrimental effect on the Iranian economy, effectively reducing its capacity to build nuclear weapons.

France has been trying to convince Trump to meet with Iranian leaders, raising expectations that Tehran's nuclear program and its nuclear deal with world powers will be a major agenda item at the United Nations session.

"I also stressed the need for Iran to respond promptly to agency questions related to the completeness of Iran's safeguards declarations", Feruta said.

The UN nuclear watchdog says it has confirmed that Iran has installed advanced centrifuges for uranium enrichment.

The Worldwide Atomic Vitality Company verified the existence of the centrifuges and stated that they had been "prepared for testing" however had not but made them operational.

Iran has said it will negotiate only if Washington lifts the sanctions.

Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, a non-governmental organization in Washington, said that the United States and Israel should recognize that IAEA access in Iran came thanks to the 2015 nuclear accord.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying on Sunday that Iran's reduction of commitments under its 2015 nuclear deal were allowed under the accord.

"Sure, anything's possible. They would like to be able to solve their problem", Trump said, adding that "we could solve it (the problem) in 24 hours".
