Texas pass defense needs work after LSU loss

I expect Texas to really slow their ground game and make this into a dog fight.

With Missouri playing comfortably back at home, look for the Tigers to eliminate some of the mistakes they made in Wyoming and bounce back with a resounding win against West Virginia.

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Texas ranked 116th in gains of 30+ yards past year, while LSU was the 23rd best in defending those.

The Tigers punted just twice and scored 24 points on four straight possessions in the second half before running out the final 22 seconds.

However, in big moments like the one coming up on Saturday, Jones continues to fall back on words from defensive coordinator Todd Orlando.

Jefferson caught three touchdowns.

Bryant connected on 31 of his 48 passes and tallied 423 yards and two TDs, but he threw an interception in the end zone and lost a fumble that Wyoming returned for a touchdown in the first half.

A general view of play between the UTEP Miners and the Texas Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on September 26, 2009 in Austin, Texas. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger led the team with 276 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 34 yards. Whether Texas was going to be able to convert on big plays was a big question mark heading into this week.

LSU football, ranked No. 6 in the country, defeated the Texas Longhorns, ranked ninth, in a 45-38 thriller. Eight plays inside LSU 10 yielded no points as both drives were stuffed at the goal line.

Herman dismissed the previous bad starts as "irrelevant", but those losses had hung over his first two seasons, even when Texas finished 2018 with a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia. Ehlinger dropped back, found Ingram wide open in the end-zone - and he dropped it.

When asked after the game if he thought the issues LSU faced with cramping were in good faith.

When asked about it on Monday, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron told reporters that it was true.
