Sarah Palin's Husband Files for Divorce

Sarah Palin's Husband Files for Divorce

It looks like the marriage is all but over between former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband of 31 years, Todd Palin.

The AP story follows local reports, including an article published earlier in the day by the Anchorage Daily News.

Anchorage attorney Kimberlee Colbo has admitted to submitting the papers for 55-year-old Todd and asking the court to keep the case confidential.

The Palins, both 55, married in 1988 and have five children.

According to the filing, and a judge's written orders, Sarah Palin "cannot threaten, harass or harm the opposing party or children".

In addition, the documents said the couple has a minor child identified as T.P.V.P. who was born April 18, 2008. Now 28, she has since starred on several reality shows - including, most recently, MTV's "Teen Mom" franchise.

She resigned as governor in 2009, and has written books and toured as a public speaker since then. Todd Palin competed on NBC's "Stars and Stripes" in 2012.

Todd Palin, nicknamed the state's "first dude" during his wife's gubernatorial tenure, once worked for energy company BP Plc on the oil fields of the North Slope and gained fame in Alaska as a four-time champion of the Iron Dog Race, the world's longest snowmobile contest. Track, an Iraq combat veteran, was arrested on domestic violence charges three times between 2016 and 2018.

The last decade turned the Palins into household names - first as groundbreakers (Sarah was Alaska's youngest and first woman governor and was seen as a curveball for a Republican presidential ticket) then as lightning rods. He also spent a year in jail for allegedly hitting a female acquaintance in the head with her phone.

Sarah has continued to make headlines since she burst onto the national political scene during the 2008 campaign.
