Quarterback Sam Ehlinger led the team with 276 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 34 yards. LSU football, ranked No. 6 in the country, defeated the Texas Longhorns, ranked ninth, in a 45-38 thriller.

A fourth person was seriously injured in the incident in the Heimerstein district.
