Israel Bombs Gaza Positions for an Entire Hour

Israeli forces also detained two armed Palestinians who crossed the border into Israel.

"Hamas is responsible for all aggression emanating from the Gaza Strip".

Hours later, Palestinian militants fired five rockets at southern Israel, hitting open fields, and Israel attacked Hamas positions in response, according to the army. There were no reports of injuries and no Palestinian group claimed responsibility for the rockets.

Israel Defense Forces troops were not injured from the drone attack and later confirmed there was slight damage to a military vehicle.

A delegation from Egypt arrived in the Gaza Strip on Sunday to mediate between the Hamas movement ruling the enclave and Israel as tensions mounts between the warring sides.

In response, an Israeli "aircraft targeted the squad that launched the drone", the army said.

"Any attempt to harm our soldiers or civilians has been and will be met with a harsh response".

If talks do take place, both parties will be severely limited by their respective negotiating stances. US President Donald Trump has played down the tests when speaking about North Korea publicly.

The truce was negotiated by Egyptian and United Nations officials with aid from Qatar to end several severe flare-ups of violence in recent months.

Two Palestinians, including a teenager, were killed on Friday by Israeli gunfire during protests along the Israel-Gaza perimeter fence, the Gaza Strip's health authorities said.

Israel has also launched three major wars against the enclave since 2008, killing thousands of Gazans each time and shattering the impoverished territory's already poor infrastructure.

The relentless Israeli bombardment came after Hamas launched a drone operation targeting an Israeli military equipment stationed along the border with the occupied Palestinian territories.

He said that some briefly managed to cross the fence before returning to Gaza, and that Israeli forces responded with riot dispersal measures.

Palestinians have held weekly rallies in the area since previous year to protest the siege on the enclave and stress the right to return of the refugees who have fled Israeli aggression since 1948.

The marches have become less intense in recent months after mediators brokered an unofficial ceasefire earlier this year.
