Kizer played in three games in relief of Rodgers last season, including three drives in the season opener after Rodgers hurt his knee against the Bears and then most of the season finale against the Lions after Rodgers suffered a concussion.

Kizer was among the Packers' cuts on Saturday as the team trimmed down its roster to 53 players.

Oakland announced Monday that it is placing Nathan Peterman on the injured reserve due to an elbow injury, allowing Mike Glennon and DeShone Kizer to slide in as Derek Carr's backups. Mixing up the third string quarterback doesn't significantly impact the team this year, but Peterman and Kizer could end up battling it out for the backup quarterback spot in 2020.

On Brexit, British PM stymied by rebels from his own party
He said the British government was making substantial progress and would succeed in removing the Irish border backstop. Mr Corbyn said the negotiations Johnson talked about "are a sham - all he's doing is running down the clock".

Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden's fascination for project quarterbacks has followed him to Northern California.

The Raiders got a close look at Kizer in a preseason game against the Packers on August 22 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as they sacked him three times and picked him off once. Peterman was 60-of-84 for 475 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions this preseason.

Kizer boasts mobility over both Glennon and Peterman, but accuracy has been Kizer's biggest struggle both with the Browns and Packers. In this years' preseason, Kizer appeared in all four games, starting the first two, and went 25 of 45 for 273yds, with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Boyle statistically outranked him but also displayed a more accurate touch. The Packers cut Kizer one day earlier.
