Manchester United's Matteo Darmian joins Parma on four-year deal

Premier League heavyweight Manchester United have now made it official that their star defender Matteo Darmian has left the club to join Serie A side Parma.

He becomes the fourth United player to finalise a switch to Serie A in recent weeks, after Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez both joined Inter and Chris Smalling signed for Roma on loan.

But the 29-year-old struggled for action after Van Gaal's departure the following summer, with his successor Jose Mourinho preferring Antonio Valencia in the right-back position.

The defender scored only one goal - a sublime volley against Crystal Palace in 2016, in a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford - in his time with the club.

Protesters also filled online forums with a slogan often chanted at demonstrations: "Five key demands, not one less". She said two senior officials would join an existing inquiry into police conduct during the protests.

The club confirmed on Monday morning that Darmian had joined Parma on a four-year deal as the defender returns to his homeland.
