India, Russia against outside influence in internal matters of any nation: Modi

Politically, there are no disagreements between Russian Federation and India, so the discussion between the two strategic partners will focus on economic matters, said Alexei Kupriyanov, an analyst with the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

Putin held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived on Wednesday to the event, which promotes trade in Russia's Far East. This demonstrates the friendly relations between the people of our two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday morning and had an in-depth discussion on a wide range of subjects. Vladivostok, like the rest of the far-east region of Russian Federation is rich in resources but remains largely underdeveloped.

After shaking hands warmly on Mr Modi's arrival, the two men boarded a Russian navy patrol ship and headed to the Zvezda shipyard about 40km across a bay from Vladivostok.

PMModi said,"You've announced that I'll be awarded with Russia's highest civilian award. It's a matter of honour for the 1.3 billion Indians".

The recent legislative changes by New Delhi on removing the special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir also came up during Putin-Modi meet.

Meanwhile, a proposal was also made between India and Russian Federation to have a full-fledged maritime route that serves as a link between Chennai and Vladivostok. Apart from firming up some agreements in several issues, the Prime Minister is expected to discuss a number of regional issues during summit talks.

"Russia is a very close friend and trusted partner of India".

At present, India relies heavily on the Gulf region for its energy requirement.

They are also expected to explore ways to enhance cooperation while working in multilateral organisations like Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China and South Africa). "I look forward to discussing with my friend President Putin the entire gamut of our bilateral partnership as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest", the prime minister's departure statement read.

"Landed in Vladivostok, capital of the Russian Far East and the crossroads of a dynamic region".

On the strategic space cooperation, Modi said the cooperation in space between the two countries is touching new heights.

"I am confident that this visit will give a new vector, new energy and a new impetus to the relations between our countries", Modi said. The PM also explained the manner in which false and misleading information was given on this matter and PM Modi thanked Russian Federation and President Putin for his very clear and strong support to India on this issue.

Russia and India are set to sign about 15 documents, including some in the military-technical sectors, within the framework of the 20th Russian-Indian summit that will take place on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), a Tass report said.
