Firefox 69 brings Enhanced Tracking Protection by default

In a blog post, Mozilla said that "Enhanced Tracking Protection will automatically be turned on by default for all users worldwide as part of the "Standard" setting". The latest release sees Enhanced Tracking Protection enabled without any additional steps by the user, other than installing or updating to the latest build. "With today's release, we expect to provide protection for 100 per cent of ours users by default", burbled a Firefox spokesbeing.

You can of course turn the feature off for sites you do want tracking cookies for. The lists are compiled by Disconnect, a US-based software maker known for its content-filtering, tracker-blocking browser plugins.

If you are unsure whether you already have the ETP enabled a quick check to see if you have a shield icon in the address bar will indicate that the ETP protection is indeed turned on.
