Haley Smith Dead - 'American Idol' Contestant Dies at 26 in Motorcycle Accident

Haley Smith, a contestant who appeared on season 11 of American Idol, died over the weekend after a motorcycle crash in Millinocket, Maine. According to authorities, the singer passed away early Saturday morning in Millinocket, in a one-vehicle accident. It would appear initially that she failed to negotiate a sharp turn shortly before crashing around 2 a.m. local time. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the crash is pending.

She sang "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus & Chaka Khan in front of judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson.

Former "American Idol" contestant Haley Smith died on August 31 after she was involved in a tragic motorcycle crash in Maine.

Smith's father told TMZ, which first reported the news, that his daughter was an experienced motorcyclist and believes a deer was the cause of the accident. Her circle of relatives instructed TMZ that they have been having a look ahead to celebrating the birthday along with her.
