Arsenal winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan set to join AS Roma on loan

Roma have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a season-long loan deal.

Roma have confirmed they will pay a fixed €3 million fee to Arsenal for Mkhitaryan, with another €100,000 possible for the Gunners in incentives.

The Armenia global joined in January 2018 as part of the infamous swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester United, but he has generally underwhelmed in London.

The Serie A side have also confirmed Mkhitaryan will wear No.77 for his new club.

In total, Mkhitaryan has made 59 appearances for Arsenal, scoring nine goals and laying on 13 assists.

Mkhitaryan has scored nine goals in 56 appearances since joining Arsenal in January 2018 and is now set to join former Manchester United team-mate Chris Smalling in Rome after the England worldwide joined on loan last week.

He joined the club as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez and you could see why when you look back at his days at Dortmund, where he scored 41 times and assisted 49 goals in 140 games for the Bundesliga giants.

The 19-year-old had a successful loan spell in Germany last season and he has this season been promoted to the first team.
