New speed record for world's fastest auto

New speed record for world's fastest auto

Now, before the skeptics say it is just a claim made by Bugatti themselves, the team had Germany's Technical Inspection Association (TÜV) verify the speed, which means the record-breaking run is officially confirmed.

On each these events it was the agency's previous-generation hypercar, the Veyron, that held the gong for the quickest mannequin, however was dethroned two years in the past by the Koenigsegg Agera RS, which had been clocked travelling at 277.87mph. He's no stranger to high speeds, having also piloted the McLaren F1 on its original record run. But this was not the ordinary sort of Chiron one can buy for $3 million from the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France. The rear wing has also been removed to reduce drag.

Beyond the lengthened platform and bodywork, Bugatti partnered with French tyre supplier, Michelin, to provide rubber mouldings which would resist warping at 490kph. At the Ehra-Lessien test track, the company's test driver Andy Wallace managed to bring the hypercar to a new world record top speed (vmax) of 490.484 km/h (304.773 mph), becoming the first carmaker to break through the mythical 482.803 km/h (300 mph) barrier. For power, Bugatti has fitted an updated version of the characteristic eight-liter W16 engine. There were no changes done to the transmission or the all-wheel-drive system of the Chiron. A bucket seat and full roll cage were also installed to keep the driver safe. "It's to get everything together and working in one auto".

"Our goal was to be the first manufacturer ever to reach the magic 300-mile-per-hour mark". It's 25cm longer than the standard vehicle and has laser-controlled ride height that hugs the auto tight to the Tarmac, significantly lower than before.

After dealing with aerodynamic efficiency and power, Bugatti then proceeded to strip the high-speed Chiron of its passenger seat and perform other weight-saving measures.

Possible future contenders of the Bugatti Chiron Sport are the Hennessey Venom F5, the Koenigsegg Jesko, and the SSC Tuatara. Since the auto isn't technically a production-spec vehicle, it doesn't take the crown as the fastest production auto in the world.

Bahamas "at war" with Hurricane Dorian, says PM
The Bahamas Press reported that the main town of Abaco's Marsh Harbor was "completely destroyed" in Dorian. Brian Kemp ordered mandatory evacuations for that state's Atlantic coast, also starting at midday Monday.
