Navas joins PSG from Real Madrid in ‘keeper swap

Real Madrid confirmed the sale of goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Paris Saint-Germain on Monday with Alphonse Areola making the opposite journey on loan as part of the deal.

Navas was voted best 'keeper in the Champions League in 2018, when he also won UEFA's goalkeeper of the year award.

He joins PSG as No. 1 ahead of Sergio Rico and fellow summer signing Marcin Bulka - a move that ends years of uncertainty over the goalkeeping hierarchy.

The French goalkeeper arrives to the LaLiga club from Paris Saint-Germain, who have signed Keylor Navas from Los Blancos for a reported $16.5million fee. The club wants to show its gratitude and love for his behaviour and performances over the five seasons he has played for Real Madrid.

He now has the bragging rights to becoming the first pitcher to throw a no-hitter twice against a team in its own stadium. He twirled his first all the way back on June 12, 2007, when he tossed the first no-hitter at Comerica Park.

That was not PSG's only big move of the day as the secured the services of Inter Milan outcast Mauro Icardi on a season-long loan.

It has also been understood that the Costa Rica worldwide will join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG).

"The 26-year-old shotstopper, capped three times for France, is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2023". There remain details for PSG and Real Madrid to hash out this morning, but both clubs are confident of a successful conclusion of negotiations.

Last season he was in regular competition for a starting spot with Gianluigi Buffon, who has since returned to Juventus.
