Mohammad Shami: India cricket board to not take action against bowler

The court has asked him to surrender within 15 days.

India fast bowler Mohammed Shami was on Monday ordered to appear before an Indian court in 15 days or face arrest, after he was accused of various crimes including assault and sexual harassment by his estranged wife. "I'm grateful to the judicial system".

Earlier this year, in an interview with India Today, Mohammed Shami stated that he wanted to focus only on his cricket career and he was determined not to let the allegations made by Hasin Jahan hamper him anyway.

"I have been fighting for one and half years".

"Had I not been from West Bengal, had Mamata Banerjee not been our Chief Minister, I wouldn't have been able to live safely here".

Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami is in big trouble again as Kolkata court issued an arrest warrant against the ace pacer. It was issued almost six months after cops had filed a charge sheet against the bowler under Sections 498A (domestic violence) and 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code. But don't really see us getting involved in this at this point in time. "But at this point in time, I would say it is too early to take a call on the matter". The warrant has been made in connection with domestic violence case filed by Shami's wife Hasin Jahan. Jahan, a former model, had filed a complaint against four in Shami's family in March 2018. "That was different. There were allegations that Shami had indulged in fixing games".

Shami has been locked in a legal battle with Jahan after the latter accused the cricketer of domestic violence, infidelity and match fixing which briefly put his BCCI central contract on hold. "I am sure Shami will do the needful once he is back in the country after the second Test against the West Indies ends", the functionary explained.
