'Extremely Dangerous' Dorian Becomes Strongest Hurricane in Modern History for the Bahamas

Where (and if) Dorian will make landfall in the USA seems to be an open question, with forecasts showing various possibilities from Florida north to the Carolinas, according to a CNN report. Henry McMaster ordered a mandatory evacuation for parts of eight coastal counties.

To facilitate the evacuations, McMaster has ordered lane reversals on several major highways including I-26 from Charleston to Columbia and USA 278 in Hilton Head starting noon Monday. Currently, hurricane-force winds extend 45 miles (75 km) from the hurricane's center.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has published a video filmed from the International Space Station, showing Hurricane Dorian moving closer towards the eastern coast of Florida.

A storm surge warning is in effect for Lantana to the Volusia/Brevard County Line, while a storm surge watch is in effect for north of Deerfield Beach to south of Lantana and Volusia/Brevard County Line to the Mouth of the St. Mary's River.

Gov. Brian Kemp issued mandatory evacuation orders starting noon Monday for residents east of I-95 in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Glynn, Liberty and McIntosh counties. "Dorian will slow to a crawl and may not emerge from the Bahamas until sometime Tuesday when it begins to move more to the north".

Eric Gordon, Rockets Agree to Extension
Gordon has averaged 16.7 points in 11 National Basketball Association seasons with the Clippers, Hornets/Pelicans and Rockets . Gordon will assume the sixth man role once again this season and will look to be the third member of the fantastic backcourt.

The wobble that Hurricane Dorian took Saturday, nudging the monster storm in a slightly different direction, seemed to convince a lot of weather-weary Floridians that they were in the clear, or at worst in for just heavy rains, not a Category 5 behemoth.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis warned the state's densely populated Atlantic coast: "We're not out of the woods yet".

"You can look through the history of the past 25 years, and there's been more hurricanes, more intense, yes, " Gaynor responded.

Complicating matters is that with every new forecast, "we keep nudging (Dorian's track) a little bit to the left" which is closer to the Florida coast, Graham said. That makes forecasting its path delicate and hard.

States of emergency are in effect for all of Florida, North Carolina and SC. "The big question is, where do we go from here?" The unnamed Labor Day storm killed about 500 people, including 259 World War I veterans who were mostly employed as construction workers building the Overseas Highway and living in tented government camps. It also said rainfall will produce flash floods in the coastal Carolinas and Georgia. That storm did not make landfall. This would tie a record wind intensity (with the 1935 Labour Day hurricane) in the Atlantic basin when it came ashore, although this measurement is preliminary and is subject to change when re-analysis is done by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
