Eric Gordon, Rockets Agree to Extension

Gordon had said after the season that he hoped to finish his career with the Rockets and preferred to reach agreement on a contract extension.

According to multiple reports, the Rockets will sign Gordon to a four-year, $75.6 million extension. He started much of the last two seasons.

The Houston Chronicle first reported the deal that will have Gordon under contract through the next five seasons per the terms of the four-year extension.

Gordon, who won the Sixth Man of the Year in 2017, has averaged nearly 17 points per contest in his three seasons with the Houston Rockets and was the second-best scorer behind James Harden.

According to maritime traffic monitoring websites, the huge tanker is now just west of the Mediterranean island nation of Cyprus. Acting Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borell said that the vessel had been seized at the U.S. request.

Gordon has averaged 16.7 points in 11 National Basketball Association seasons with the Clippers, Hornets/Pelicans and Rockets.

Westbrook, Gordon and 2017-18 MVP James Harden are now all locked up through at least the 2022-23 season, though both Westbrook and Harden have player options that year.

Gordon will assume the sixth man role once again this season and will look to be the third member of the fantastic backcourt. Gordon will make $14 million this season and then average about $18 million in salary over the following three years.

Despite the addition of Russell Westbrook, Gordon's lucrative contract suggests that his role won't be reduced much.
