EPL: Liverpool stay top with club record-breaking win at Burnley

"The players pretty much played the flawless game, " Klopp said.

Mane was left raging with Salah for not squaring the ball to him during Liverpool's Premier League clash against Burnley.

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool celebrates with Jordan Henderson of Liverpool after scoring his sides first goal during the Premier League match between Burnley FC and Liverpool FC at Turf Moor on August 31, 2019 in Burnley, United Kingdom.

Burnley had started brightly, with forward Wood forcing an early save out of Adrian, Liverpool got ahead in the 33rd minute, albeit in fortunate fashion.

Alexander-Arnold's attempted cross took a glancing blow off Wood's back and ballooned over goalkeeper Nick Pope into the top corner.

The opening goal was a complete fluke.

Just four minutes later, Roberto Firmino received the ball in the midfield after a miscued pass by Ben Mee.

The two quick goals demoralised Burnley, who never looked a threat from then on, with Liverpool content to nullify them and wait for their chance for a third.

The win was eventually wrapped up in the 80th minute as Salah teed up Firmino, who found the back of the net with a first-time strike from around 20-yards out.

Klopp said: "He was upset, that was obvious". In moments we played really, really good football. I couldn't believe how many times we had to head the ball away. "This team wants to write their own stories". We know they are good on transition but I don't think there was massive amounts in it beyond that.
