Minnesota Wild name Bill Guerin fourth GM in team history

On Wednesday, the Wild announced former Stars winger Bill Guerin as their new general manager, joining Mike Modano and Mats Zuccarello as a trio of ex-Stars to take their talents to "The State of Hockey". Guerin won 2 title with the Penguins as a player and 2 more in the front office with Pittsburgh.

Guerin, 48, becomes the fourth general manager in Wild franchise history and the second plucked from the Penguins organization after Chuck Fletcher. Guerin will step in to replace Paul Fenton, who was sacked earlier in the summer after just one year on the job. After three seasons he was promoted to assistant GM and oversaw Pittsburgh's AHL team in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Wild will open up their training camp in less than a month and begin their preseason play on September 17.

"Bill has been a victor throughout his hockey career and I am extremely pleased to be able to add his experience to our organization and The State of Hockey", noted Wild owner and chairman Craig Leipold in the team's press release.
