President Trump offers himself as ‘the chosen one’

President Donald Trump has repeated his claim that voters are being "disloyal" when they back Democrats, expanding on remarks made the previous day, despite criticism from Jewish groups.

KEITH: On Tuesday in the Oval Office, Trump explicitly said if Jewish people vote for a Democrat, they are disloyal. Tlaib was eventually granted a humanitarian waiver to visit family, but she declined, saying the conditions Israel attached were unacceptable.

"If you vote for a Democrat, you're being disloyal to Jewish people, and you're being very disloyal to Israel", the president told reporters.

"Both sides, no matter what side of the aisle you were on, supported Israel - and now the Democratic party has chosen to blatantly disregard Israel", she said, explaining that "the obvious shift" may lead to an increase in Jewish Americans voting Republican.

"To my fellow American Jews ... when he uses a trope that's been used against the Jewish people for centuries with dire consequences he is encouraging - wittingly or unwittingly - anti-Semites throughout the country and world".

Trump's remarks drew condemnation from Democrats and a large number of Jewish organizations.

President Donald Trump may have had a record day, he alienated another North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally and America's Jewish Community at about the same time.

Trump went on to approvingly include Root's frustrated assessment of the political mood of American Jews: "But American Jews don't know him or like him".

Now it's Trump who accuses Jews supporting the Democratic Party of disloyalty.

Under the circumstances, Trump's response made flawless sense. Where have they gone that they're defending these two people over the State of Israel?

Pipko is a former Trump 2016 campaign staffer, who made headlines earlier this year when she announced her support for President Trump, and co-founded Jexodus - now known as The Exodus Movement.

He did so by dividing them into "loyal" and "disloyal" camps, under the absurd terms of United States partisan politics, and the even more absurdly dysfunctional relationship between the USA and Israel.

The US President has divided Jewish citizens of the US into two camps: loyal and disloyal.

"To say otherwise, and depend only on one party, particularly in these turbulent times of increased hate and anti-Semitism, only weakens and divides the most important Jewish community in the Diaspora", they said in a statement.

"I understand your point, I take it to heart".

"I know Jewish values... tzedakah, chesed... there's an idea in Judaism about kindness and decency and mercy", he said in a video posted to Twitter by the politics site Iowa Starting Line. "We got to wake up to this war, or we're going to die in our sleep as a country, and that's what's happening right now".

I wish it were true, because Trump's real test is how his actions affect the American Jewish population.

Trump's tweets come in the middle of the latest debate over American support for Israel and its government's policies.

In the jogger case, Trump wasn't so bold as to say the youngsters arrested for the crime should be executed, but the implication was obvious.
