President tweets photo of Trump Tower looming over Greenland

It was shared after The Wall Street Journal reported the president's interest in buying the island. Add Donald Trump as an interest to stay up to date on the latest Donald Trump news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

Two new tweets from President Donald Trump on Tuesday evening appear to show that he is serious about wanting to purchase Greenland from Denmark, a move that has a lot of support from Trump's base.

"Based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time", Trump tweeted tonight. German Chancellor Angela Merkel later joined the event.

Now that the whole debacle about Donald Trump's interest in purchasing Greenland has been put to rest, more realistic matters pertaining to the Arctic have surfaced ahead of the United States president's scheduled visit to Denmark next month. Trump, for his part, has floated the idea of purchasing the landmass multiple times, musing that "it would be nice" for strategic purposes.

For Greenland's Inuit population, which is slightly above 56,000, it would not matter much whether they are a Danish territory or an American territory, but rather their level of independence from both Denmark and the United States. The icy territory between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans is mostly self-ruled, though Denmark remains in charge of foreign affairs, defence and monetary policy.

Tonight we showed it. "As long as we do that, we can kind of stay on his good side". "We're going to have to do that". By putting pressure on defense and getting to the rim, that in turn opened up 3-pointers for the team's shooters.

"It's not No 1 on the burner, I can tell you that", he said. "By the way, Greenland is not Danish". But GoFundMe users are nevertheless still trying to make a buck with "Buy Greenland" campaigns, either to help President Trump achieve his dreams or to buy Greenland out from under him.

"It's an absurd discussion, and (Greenland Premier) Kim Kielsen has of course made it clear that Greenland is not for sale".

"We're open for business, not for sale", it added.

"We would like more tourists to come, we want to sell more fish globally, but we would also like to have better opportunities to get around the country", Kielsen said.
