McLaren releases first teaser of all-new Ultimate Series model

McLaren releases first teaser of all-new Ultimate Series model

The yet-to-be-named new machine, which, the firm claims, will offer its "purest driving experience yet", will make its debut in 2020 and have a limited production run of 399 cars.

At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance McLaren confirmed it will release a new Ultimate Series roadster in 2020.

The released image for the vehicle, a rendition of its planned proportions, shows that it will be in the classic roadster proportions, built to be low and wide. "Now this new addition to the Ultimate Series, an open-cockpit roadster, will take road-focused driving pleasure to new levels", stated the company's CEO, Mike Flewitt.

Strictly limited to just 399 examples, the roadster will differ from both the McLaren Senna's focus on being the ultimate road-legal track vehicle and the Speedtail's high-speed aerodynamic efficiency by offering the purest distillation of road-focused driving pleasure and an unrivalled sense of driver connection with the surrounding environment.

Hickenlooper Expected To End 2020 bid On Thursday
Hickenlooper said in his video Thursday he hasn't decided yet whether he'll challenge Gardner. Hickenlooper launched his presidential campaign five months ago.

What is also known is that the new dramatically styled roadster will use a twin-turbocharged version of the Senna's V8 power unit - with no hybrid component - while a carbonfibre chassis will make it the lightest auto ever produced by the Woking marque. Lines sweep the edges for movement and dihedral doors mark it as a McLaren. Moreover, price of the new model is positioned between McLaren Senna (£958,966) and Speedtail (£2.1 million). A version of McLaren's twin-turbo V8 will provide power.

The auto, who does not yet have a name, was announced on Friday (August 16) by McLaren's CEO Mike Flewitt.

The as-yet-unnamed striking two-seater is expected to join in about 18 months McLaren's top tier Ultimate Series which now includes the Senna, the GTR and the awaited Speedtail designs.
