Police Investigating After Truck Drives Into Jewish ICE Protesters

State Police, as well as the Rhode Island attorney general's office, are investigating the incident. "The driver was in his uniform when he hit the protestors". The extent of their injuries are now unknown.

Amid the commotion, someone - protesters said it was guards at the facility - pepper sprayed the crowd and the truck continued into the parking lot. #NeverAgainMeans doing what it takes to #ShutDownICE.

"This is why we're here", said Aaron Regunberg, a former Rhode Island state representative who participated in the protest, in a media advisory.

Rofeberg said he has been struck by the diversity of Jews who have showed up to protest at Never Again Action events, some hailing from different Jewish traditions and others claiming a secular Jewish identity.

Regunberg alleges local police refused to take witness statements on the scene, despite protesters "clamoring, asking, demanding", to give them. They did not talk to the driver, they did not try to apprehend him. "Many of our ancestors narrowly escaped from conditions like what we are seeing today in concentration camps at the border and detention centers around the country". As Jews, our families taught us the lessons of the Holocaust, and we promised that we would speak out and act if we ever saw a group of people being targeted, dehumanized, and rounded up.

Russian Federation : 74 injured in emergency airline landing
Vitya Babin, 11, who was on board with his mother and sister, said passengers were not warned there would be an emergency landing. At the same time, the Russian media wrote that in the event of engine failure, the pilot landed the aircraft in the maize field.

Never Again Action said it will not be deterred by attempts to use violence to crush peaceful demonstrations against ICE abuses. Until they do, we're going to make it impossible for ICE to do business as usual.

After the driver parked, "he got out of the truck and he joined his colleagues in the driveway to form a perimeter and he just stood there staring at us", Anthony said. ICE detainees are housed in the facility, which also has detainees from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Navy, and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe.

Wyatt is operated by the Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation, a "quasi-public corporation" governed by a board appointed by the Central Falls mayor. The statement did not say whether Woodworth was the man driving the truck. ICE was blockaded for five hours, and video footage showed that the agency sent its employees home early.Sophie Ellman-Golan, a 27-year-old organizer of Tuesday's march, told The Daily Beast the night before the D.C. protest that she hadn't given out the location of the march ahead of time because NAA doesn't have a protest permit.

Correction: This article previously stated that the officer driving the truck was an ICE guard. This month, we're returning to the Wyatt detention center around the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'av which commemorates the destruction of the Temple. Shots were reportedly fired at a recent ICE facility in Texas as well as an apparent arson and attack at an ICE facility in Washington state.
