The coroner also authorities found a bag of cocaine on the gunman's body.

Dayton police said Betts had "a pipe device and a baggie of cocaine" on him after he was shot dead by cops during the August 4 massacre in Dayton's trendy Oregon District. One of them died, but Harshbarger said the gunman, not police, fired the lethal round.

He said Betts was shot by police about 24 times, and was wounded mostly in his upper torso and lower extremities.

Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said the officers' goal at the time was to "immediately stop the killing". Police shot him as he neared a crowded bar.

Authorities who have been trying to piece together a motive behind Connor Betts' deadly mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio earlier this month revealed that gunman may not have intentionally murdered his sister as first believed.

Preliminary autopsy results also found that two of the victims were also struck by police bullets, he said.

It's not known whether Betts targeted his 22-year-old sister, Megan.

Police said he then went back to his auto, changed into a hoodie and took items out of the trunk of the vehicle, including a "very heavy backpack".

The sale would mark a new record for a US professional sports franchise, the Wall Street Journal reported first on Wednesday. The former superstar fell off after he was traded from the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The parents of the Dayton, Ohio, shooter apologized Wednesday and retracted an obituary published online that described their son as a "funny, articulate, and intelligent man" who "will be missed".

There were no details provided on when funeral services would be held for Connor and Megan Betts, according to Conner & Koch Funeral Home.

The obituary for Connor Betts says he had been working as a grill cook and studying at Sinclair Community College.

'In their grief, they presented the son that they knew, which in no way reduces the horror of his last act. The accusations came as prosecutors unsealed charges against Kollie that they said were unrelated to the August 4 shooting. Following the shooting it's come to light that Betts was obsessed with guns, used hard drugs, and got a friend to buy him body armor.

Lawyers for Kollie claim he was shocked to hear about the shooting, adding, there is no evidence to prove he knew the gunman's plans. Investigators have said there's no indication Kollie knew his friend was planning a mass shooting.

Prosecutors charged Kollie with lying about not using marijuana on federal firearms forms in the purchase of a pistol that federal agents found in his apartment.

A judge has been reviewing where Kollie would stay under house arrest with electronic monitoring and other conditions.
