Bayern Munich agree season-long loan deal for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho has made 75 appearances in all for Barcelona, scoring 21 goals and was part of the side beaten in the semi-finals of the Champions League by the eventual winners Liverpool.

Catalan radio station RAC1 reported shortly after the line-ups were released that Barca had struck a deal with Bayern Munich to take Coutinho on a season-long loan.

"There are still some issues pending such as the contract signature and the medical check but we have an agreement", Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic told ZDF television.

"We have had very good discussions, I would like to thank Barcelona".

Then, following the 2-2 draw with Hertha Berlin to kick off the season, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that Coutinho will indeed be joining - and that the Bundesliga champions are able to sign him permanently.

Gary Neville claims Man United will win Premier League before Liverpool
United won their Premier League season opener against Chelsea on Sunday, battering Frank Lampard's 4-0 men at Old Trafford. Speaking on Sky Bet's The Big Debate , he said: "I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win again".

Barcelona's director of institutional relations says there is "an initial agreement" for the transfer, but it hasn't been finalized yet.

But despite huge excitement around Coutinho's arrival, he has struggled to find his place at Camp Nou.

Gerard Pique was asked earlier this month about the possibility of Coutinho leaving. They will probably let Coutinho negotiate with Bayern, but we wonder if they will hold onto him until the negotiations with PSG are really over. "But at the end of the day it's what he wants and I want him to be happy".

Bayern had been pursuing Germany winger Leroy Sane as their No. 1 target to help fill the void left by the departing Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, but turned to alternatives after Sane suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Manchester City.

Barca had hoped to use Coutinho as a makeweight in a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the return of Neymar. We are very delighted and I think he will fit well.
