August security patch available for Nokia 7 Plus

August security patch available for Nokia 7 Plus

Despite missing the Android One branding, the likes of Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 from 2017 have since received two Android OS updates built on the premise of Android One. As the two-year period draws to a close for these smartphones, we remain committed to delivering the best and most secure experiences.

Security patch updates will roll out to older phones quarterly. Unfortunate for Indian and the US Nokia 6 Amazon users, they'll have to live with the last security update dated October 2019 for the rest of the time they wish to keep the device. While the changelog on the Nokia 7.1 update only shows the addition of the latest August 2019 Android security patches, the Nokia 9 PureView update comes with UI enhancements, improved system stability and only July 2019 Android security. Samsung still issues quarterly security patches to its Galaxy S7 flagships, even though they were launched in 2016.

Following two years of monthly updates, the Nokia 3 will be the first to start receiving quarterly updates from September 2019 until September 2020. This does not mean that these smartphones will get the Android Q update because the support could be the regular monthly updates.

The accusations came as prosecutors unsealed charges against Kollie that they said were unrelated to the August 4 shooting. A judge has been reviewing where Kollie would stay under house arrest with electronic monitoring and other conditions.

Today's news sees Nokia extend this support just short of the two-year mark for some handsets.

For Nokia 2, the support for security patch will come to a halt in November 2019. To recall, the Nokia 2 also didn't receive an update to Android Pie, so it doesn't surprise us that HMD will end support this year in all markets.
