Is Trump Interested in Buying Greenland?

People outside the White House have described purchasing Greenland as an Alaska-type acquisition for Mr. Trump's legacy, advisers said.

President Trump is traveling to New Hampshire on Thursday for his first 2020 campaign stop in the state. However, Trump was adamant he would win in the upcoming elections.

The United States has had an airbase on the island since 1943.

Aside from the president's approval, Lewandowski's potential bid did not elicit strong views either way from other party leaders in Washington, even as he was subpoenaed Thursday to testify publicly about Trump's potential obstruction of the special counsel probe.

"I voted for him - I don't know why".

The President also criticized his Democratic competitors. He has imposed 25% tariffs on $250 billion of imports from China and has threatened to hit the remaining $300 billion worth of Chinese imports with 10% tariffs.

"The president brought states onto the map that are Trump states - states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin", Trump national press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told CBS News at an economic roundtable in Bedford.

Trump also elaborated on his new push to consider building more mental institutions to prevent further mass shootings. The shootings have reignited calls for Congress to take immediate action to reduce gun violence.

"I think we'll have a fantastic and big trade deal with the UK". But she said that while Trump has "talked about the importance of the economy", the top concern Shaheen said she hears from people in New Hampshire is based around health care. "But people can't feel secure about the future of their families, even though they have a good job, if they're anxious about whether they're going to have health care when they need it".

"New Hampshire should have been won last time, except we had a lot of people come in at the last moment, which was a rather odd situation - thousands and thousands of people coming in from locations unknown, but I knew where their location was", he told reporters.

Trump's rallies are frequently interrupted by protesters.

But as noted by journalists in attendance, the protesters were on the thin side, while the man Trump mocked was actually a supporter of his.

"But what we can take seriously is that the USA stakes and interest in the Arctic is significantly on the rise and they want a much bigger influence".

"Get him out of here, please", Trump said.

Government officials - now and historically - view Greenland as significant to national security and previous year intervened to block China from financing three airports in the territory, but it is unclear whether security concerns are driving Trump's idea to potentially purchase the northern island. According to a University of New Hampshire poll released Tuesday, forty-two percent of New Hampshire residents approve of his performance as president, while 53% disapprove. Polls show Trump continues to get lackluster scores among well-educated suburban voters, especially women, and results of the 2018 midterms gave Democrats significant gains in those areas too.

Some Democratic presidential campaigns are holding events to capitalize on Trump's trip.
