Vikings trade 2020 5th-Round Pick for Ravens Kicker/Punter Kaare Vedvik

Vikings trade 2020 5th-Round Pick for Ravens Kicker/Punter Kaare Vedvik

The Ravens had hoped to trade Vedvik due to their consistency at each of the specialist positions, and the former Marshall University kicker and punter demonstrated his ability in Baltimore's first preseason game on Thursday.

Speaking of kickers, the Vikings might be giving Bailey some competition in Training Camp heading into their first preseason home game.

Later on Sunday, ESPN confirmed an NFL Network report that the Vikings are releasing veteran long-snapper Kevin McDermott, which means rookie Austin Cutting is the team's long-snapper. Wile punted twice for a 42.5-yard average. Bailey is one of the most accurate kickers in National Football League history, and in 14 games last season with Minnesota, was 30-of-31 on extra points and 21-of-28 on field goals. He was also a solid 4-for-4 this past week for the Ravens, including a 55 yarder.

One of the Minnesota Vikings' position battles has been resolved.

"Honestly, I really like Dan Bailey".

"The first punt was inside the 20, but not by much", Zimmer said. And having two long snappers, I think that's added to it a little bit because the timing is different. "I think he's a very professional, mature kid. We're working on holding quite a bit".

Zimmer has tried different holders in the field-goal operation after Wile handled the job previous year.

In the middle of Sunday's practice, general manager Eric DeCosta spoke to coach John Harbaugh and assistant special-teams coach Randy Brown for a long time. He was hospitalized in September after being found alone with multiple facial injuries.

But on his first day in Minnesota, Vedvik dropped the tee at the 50-yard line on the field closest to the fans who paid to be at training camp on this Monday. But with Justin Tucker already on the team, Vedvik was never going to make the 53-man roster.
