Leading West African singer DJ Arafat dies in road crash

The artist died as a result of serious injuries he sustained during the accident.

Per what we gathered, he had been driving a motorbike and he smashed it into a vehicle.

Confirmed information boiling on our front desk has it that Ivorian singer, DJ Arafat with a huge fan base in Francophone Africa, has died in a auto crash in Abidjan.

DJ Arafat was reportedly unconscious while being rushed to the hospital before he died on Monday. Fellow Ivory Coat musician Ickx Fontaine told AFP that the country was in shock.

Ivorian Culture Minister Maurice Kouakou Bandaman expressed his condolences following the death, adding that a tribute to the late singer would be organised. "He was a real singer and a drummer. he gave a new breath of life to coupe-decale".

During his lifetime, DJ Arafat was known for his dance-provoking sounds and energetic stage performances. He started as a DJ in Yopougon, one of Abidjan s night-life districts. "He will remain a force for Ivorian and African music".
