Get ready for the bright lights, sequins and plenty of two left feet - the nation's favourite celebrity-filled dancing bonanza is coming back to our screens this autumn!

Having been announced as a contestant live on BBC's The One Show on Wednesday, the retired footballer props up the Strictly winners' market at odds of 18/1 with specials betting experts Betway - clearly he's better known for his handiwork, rather than his footwork.

The first batch of Strictly Come Dancing celebrity contestants will be announced tonight.

Reacting to the announcement, which was made public on her birthday on Monday, Xu said she was "thrilled and excited" to join the show.

"As possibly one of the biggest Strictly fans on the planet, I still can't believe this is happening", she said. Not just competing against this year's stars, but being compared to previous sport stars from previous Strictly seasons.

She said she was "whipping off Honey's "Minute Mart" tabard and diving right in to all the glitter and sparkle".

She confirmed her involvement in the BBC series during an appearance on This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth.

Sam Allardyce is to swap the dugout for the dancefloor, with the former England manager set to be one of the contestants on the upcoming series of "Strictly Come Dancing" on BBC.

In a message on Instagram Tyldesley added: "Beyond excited! Hold onto your jazz shoes... mine is sure to be a bumpy/clumsy/fun ride!"

The 35-year-old said farewell to her Corrie character Eva Price in 2018 after seven years in the role.
