Biden slams Trump rhetoric, United States News & Top Stories

The New Jersey senator didn't mention President Donald Trump by name in SC today but used some of the president's own words to call out the racism Booker says underlies much of the violence in the country, including recent attacks that killed 31 in El Paso and Dayton.

Mr Trump's aides deny his rhetoric was a cause of the shootings.

Democratic 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden.

"Instead we have a president with a toxic tongue who has publicly and unapologetically embraced a political strategy of hate, racism and division", excerpts of Biden's speech read.

Biden said America was going through a rare episode in its history with a president who "isn't up to the moment, where our president lacks the moral authority to lead". "And that makes winning the battle for the soul of this nation that much harder", Biden said in Iowa, drawing on a core theme of his presidential campaign.

Speaking for under five minutes to a few hundred people dripping with sweat despite fanning themselves with his campaign placards, Biden said the nation can overcome four years of Trump.

"Our president has aligned himself with the darkest forces in this nation".

Biden has sought to take on Trump since announcing his candidacy back in April, citing the president saying there were "very fine people" on both sides of the Charlottesville attack in 2017. At a fundraiser on Sunday in San Diego, Biden called Trump a "significant contributor" to the rise of hate. "Stand up for what - at our best - this nation believes".

Oil slumps to new seven-month low on trade tensions
Crude production grew 100,000 bpd to 12.3 million bpd, just under its weekly record high at 12.4 million hit in May. American crude inventories tightened further, falling 3.4 million barrels last week, according industry data.

I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.

The weekend's back-to-back mass shootings intensified criticism of what many say is incendiary rhetoric by Trump.

Trump's rhetoric, including calling Central Americans trying to enter the United States "an invasion", and his hard-line immigration policies have exposed him to renewed condemnation following the El Paso shooting.

Beto O'Rourke, who is from El Paso, said Trump is a "racist, driven by fear", and that the president's suggestion to link gun legislation with proposals to restrict US immigration shows Trump was siding "with a mass murderer's call to make our country more white".

Asked about Trump's tweet after his speech, Biden said, "He should get a life".

"The LameStream Media will die in the ratings and clicks with this guy", he said. It will be one big crash, but at least China will be happy!'

Earlier Wednesday, Trump dismissed the notion that his comments contributed to violence.

"When I was attorney general [of California], and we put resources into allowing law enforcement to actually knock on the doors of people who were on two lists-a list where they had been found by a court to be a danger to themselves and others", she told the Washington Examiner.
