Brooks Koepka wins WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational

Brooks Koepka wins WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational

McIlroy shot an 8-under 62 on Saturday in the FedEx St. Jude Invitational to take a one-stroke lead over Brooks Koepka at the World Golf Championships event.

Koepka's final round allowed him to finish three ahead of his American compatriot Webb Simpson, with Australia's Marc Leishman in third and England's Tommy Fleetwood also finishing ahead of McIlroy.

World number one Koepka hit 17 greens in regulation and converted many of his birdie chances.

"No one really wanted to watch me and Patrick because they were more about watching Rory and Brooks", Fitzpatrick said.

Koepka sank a nine-foot birdie putt at the par-5 third hole to grab a share of the lead at 12-under, with McIlroy then missing a four-footer for birdie.

Koepka won the PGA Championship in May for his fourth major title in less than two years, and if not for an uncooperative putter, he might have challenged Shane Lowry at last week's British Open.

"You've had a bad week and you go to the next week and you say, 'OK I didn't do this well, I didn't do this well.' So you're sort of trying to focus on that rather than winning the tournament".

Nevertheless, McIlroy couldn't even end second as Koepka shot a bogeyless 65 to his rival's error-strewn 71.

Koepka arrived late at TPC Southwind, however within the occasion it was McIlroy who didn't present up.

Capital One suffers major U.S. data breach
Capital One has revealed it suffered a major data breach that left the data of millions of customers at risk. Thompson was ordered held at least until a hearing on Thursday, prosecutors said.

He birdied two of his first three holes, with his longest putt 6 feet on No. 1.

"You know he's going to play a good one". When you toss in his PGA Championship from the spring and CJ Cup from last fall, he's also likely locked up his second straight PGA Tour Player of the Year Award, depending on what happens in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Koepka, who has never won a WGC title, could become only the fourth player to win WGC and major events in the same year.

McIlroy won WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in 2014 when it was played at Firestone Country Club and will be looking for a third World Golf Championships win on Sunday, while Koepka will be seeking his first.

Simpson's round was highlighted with an eagle on the par-five third hole but a bogey just before making the turn sullied his scorecard.

An untimely miss for par from just under 10-feet on the 12th moved McIlroy four shots behind, and although he holed out from 18-feet for birdie on 14, he dropped another shot a hole later with another miss from eight feet. "I've always loved this place so to play so well here is incredible.to finally get the win here is special".

Five birdies between the 10th and 16th holes had put Leishman in contention but the Australian gave two back with bogeys at 13 and 15. I've done a good job of that over the last few years in really learning.

Burying a seven-foot birdie putt on 14 got him right back in it, and he kept his foot on the gas pedal all the way home.
