Simu Liu Confirmed To Star In Marvel's 'Shang-Chi' Movie

In addition to The Eternals and the next Doctor Strange, we also got brand new information about the rumored Shang-Chi movie.

Marvel has hit us with a heap of new info about its post-Avengers: Endgame plans at this weekend's Comic Con, and one of the biggest announcements is the casting of Simu-Liu as the superhero Shang-Chi.

"I was cast on Tuesday, I screen-tested Sunday in NY and this is just the craziest dream".

Short Term 12's Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Shang-Chi, which centers on the classic comics character and kung fu master.

Marvel Studios unveiled that Simu Liu (Kim's Convenience) will be taking the titular role in the forthcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Dave Callaham.

Awkwafina has also joined the film, but her role is unspecified.

"I grew up with friends that were Japanese, Chinese, Korean...that's the norm in Hawaii".

Created by Jim Starlin and Steve Englehart in the early 1970s, around the time when Enter the Dragon kicked off a global martial arts phenomenon, Shang-Chi fed into a lot of Asian stereotypes of the time. "And it's so exciting to see Kevin and his fantastic team begin to create an MCU that begins to reflect all the handsome colors I see in this room". Well, sure enough, at Comic-Con 2019, Kevin Feige announced that Shang-Chi was real - and it's coming in February 2021.
