The Witcher series on Netflix will have ‘No Main Villain’

Streaming giant Netflix has just rushed to an early lead with the release of the first trailer for their upcoming fantasy series The Witcher.

Star Henry Cavill sat front and centre at the trailer's premiere, next to writer/executive producer/showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and his fellow cast members Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.

Just when we thought they weren't going to release any footage to the general public, Netflix went ahead and dropped the entire Witcher Netflix series trailer onto the internet. That's why Geralt only has one sword, not two, in the key art. Hissrich wondered aloud if there will be a "rumble" between those who enjoy the books and those who like the games. Revealed during San Diego Comic-Con today, we now have an idea of what Cavill and co will look like in motion for when the series finally does arrive.

Ciri also goes through a transformation in the show apparently, as her appearance in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - as a monster hunter with magic powers - comes long after the events of Andrzej Sapkowski's books, which the Netflix show is more directly based on. "I don't know how I got here". "[But] after I got the role, I immersed myself in the books and the games - and everything I could get my hands on".

"A Witcher is a young boy who has been left to fend for themselves and taken in by the group called Witchers and they are trained to levels of nearly inhuman agility and endurance". From posters showcasing the different characters to the extremely short clip of Henry Cavill drinking a potion, fans have been met with a veritable cornicopia of content. He's not your average hero.

Cavill also revealed that he did his own stunts for the series. However, the one in the series is special, and Geralt feels emotionally attached to the animal.

Allan said of her character, "She's had a very sheltered upbringing and as a result she's incredibly naive to what the real world is". The trailer gives us our first look at Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer in action, and frankly, it looks much better than I expected.
