Instagram Will Now Warn You Before it Disables Your Account

According to Instagram, appeals will be initially available for content that was deleted on the grounds of "nudity and pornography, bullying and harassment, hate speech, drug sales, and counter-terrorism", but it will be expanding in the coming months.

Instagram announced that soon there will be a new process where the company will disable accounts that have a certain percentage of violating content.

When a user received such notification from Instagram, he has to take down or delete irrelevant posts and content from his profile and not share anything like it in the future to keep the account running.

Instagram will notify users if their account may be removed.

"Under our existing policy, we disable accounts that have a certain percentage of violating content".

The biggest change in the company's policy is that users will now have their accounts deleted if they violate a certain number of policies in a specific timeframe, though the company, of course, remained coy on those numbers. As for posts which have been removed in error, Instagram will repost it and also remove violation from the account.

The Facebook-owned company will start removing accounts that rack up a number of violations within a window of time.

'We've always given people the option to appeal disabled accounts through our Help Center, and in the next few months, we'll bring this experience directly within Instagram, ' said the company in a statement.

The photo-sharing app will also give users a chance to appeal its moderation decisions directly via the alert and they would no longer have to go through its help page.

While a lot of users are protesting against Instagram blocking their accounts for "no apparent reason", Instagram has decided that it will now inform users before deleting their account.

At the same time, Instagram and parent company Facebook continue to face allegations that it's suppressing conservative voices. The photo-sharing giant has chose to warn such users as they are not following the company's policies and guidelines.
