Arrowverse Crossover: Brandon Routh, Tyler Hoechlin to Both Play Superman

Today, it was revealed Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin will both reprise their roles as Superman in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. "Honored, humbled, grateful, and still pinching myself", said the actor in a tweet. Routh previously portrayed Clark Kent's alter ego on the big-screen in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns back in 2006. Or how about an alternate Earth Lex with Michael Rosenbaum?

Brandon Routh, who now plays Ray Palmer on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, will also be appearing in the crossover as Superman, Deadline has revealed.

More details of this Arrowverse crossover are expected at San Diego Comic-Con during Saturday's DC Comics panel. It's not clear whether the double-casting will be addressed during Crisis on Infinite Earths, but given the Arrowverse series' propensity for cheeky, self-referential humor, we're going to go ahead and guess that it probably will be, and in hilarious fashion. To add to this, the seventh season finale of Stephen Amell's Arrow set up Oliver Queen's role in the next crossover by having him join the Monitor on a mission to warn other worlds of the crisis, as part of the arrangement Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen made in order to save the lives of both The Flash and Supergirl. It is gonna be an emotional time for us fans but we can already see it being super epic. At the end, only a single universe was left unscathed - meaning that, in one fell swoop, the problem of the notoriously complicated, headache-inducing continuity of the DC multiverse of the time was solved.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will air in December and will feature characters from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman.

Instagram Will Now Warn You Before it Disables Your Account
At the same time, Instagram and parent company Facebook continue to face allegations that it's suppressing conservative voices . The photo-sharing giant has chose to warn such users as they are not following the company's policies and guidelines.

The Arrowverse, obviously, hasn't had to tangle with the issue of dozens of writers needlessly tangling up its continuity for decades.

As it now stands, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman aall take place on Earth-1.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" is based on the DC Comics miniseries in 1985 and 1986 that explored the idea of multiple incarnations of Superman. However, Supergirl takes place on Earth-38.
