Idiotic Behavior: US Mom Records Daughter Licking Medical Tools

Thirty-year-old Cori Ward went with her daughter to the All About Kids and Families Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. She appears to then lick the depressor and places it back in a canister on the shelf.

Ward is not eligible for bond and her first court appearance will be Friday at 9 a.m., according to arrest records. While 30 years may seem steep for something like this, germs on a tongue depressor could be extremely harmful or fatal for another patient who was immunocompromised.

Ward is being charged with a felony for tampering with a consumer product without regard for possible death or bodily injury, jail records indicate. Someone else recorded the video and posted it to Facebook, where it was widely shared. "I'm scared for my kids".

The medical center released a statement saying it has removed all materials from the room in the video and sanitized the entire facility. "Our internal investigation does not reveal any resulting risks or harm to patients from this action".

While saliva has antibodies and enzymes that decrease the chance of passing along infectious organisms to another person, the fluid can contain a number of viruses that cause colds, the flu, mono and strep throat, among other diseases, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

"It was a joke with no criminal intent or activity ... but I was locked up with murderers and real criminals on maxim security", said Martin in an interview with the news outlet, which showed him smiling and holding the ice cream.
