Users unable to logon — Twitter down

The company says some people may now be able to access the site again.

Although their support account hasn't shared any updates, Twitter seemed to keep a sense of humor about the situation.

Outages began Thursday afternoon and continued during President Trump's social media summit. [Monitoring] Twitter is now back up for most people.

The idea is being tested in Canada first, before it is adopted by other countries. Downdetector reports a decline in reports, but Twitter's status page still reports a service disruption.

The Twitter API Status dashboard indicates that the company is now investigating the issue. We are keeping an eye on the situation, update you soon.

Twitter went down for users around the globe late Thursday night, the latest major social media network to go offline over the past month. A huge spike in problems was reported, with the majority of the issues reported on websites, followed by apps.

According to DownDetector, outages were heavily impacting the northeastern part of the United States. However, some users can still tweet which indicates that the outage is not worldwide.

According to Newsweek, Twitter let out a statement acknowledging the outage.
