Magnitude-4.6 quake shakes Pacific Northwest overnight

No significant damages or injuries were reported to city infrastructure, according to Tacoma and Pierce County officials.

Within a minute the 3.5 quake hit near Monroe.

The initial temblor was recorded at 2:51 a.m. Friday.

In Mountlake Terrace, Police Commander Mike Haynes said the agency received "a few 911 calls to report the quake, but no reports of injury or property damage". "We are spooked and still awake", Rob Fuhriman told the station.

Alexander Acosta resigns amid Jeffrey Epstein plea criticism
It was never a matter of "if", but "when" Alex Acosta would step down in the days after sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein's arrest . Epstein was put in a work-release program and spent 12 hours a day, six days a week not in prison, but in an office.

Bill Steele, seismology lab coordinator with the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, said this quake was related to the North American crust, not the Cascadia subduction zone - which is the source of nightmarish scenarios for a mega natural disaster in the Northwest.

KIRO reports the quake is the largest to hit the region since the 6.8 M 2001 Nisqually natural disaster.

The quake struck as millions of people in Southern California are on edge and anxious about their safety after two large earthquakes and more than 4,000 aftershocks.

Caruso said the Northwest quake had no connection to the recent earthquakes in California.
