Dragon Quest Builders 2 Review

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Review

The key and lock system in Dragon Quest Builders 2 is pretty straight forward, however it's not like some other games you may be used to. The joy in playing is in the discovery and while playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, you'll be making discoveries constantly.

The battles appear to be much like traditional Dragon Quest turn-based combat.

The first thing fans will quickly notice is that your weapons (swords) and your tools (hammers) are now assigned to different buttons, so you no longer need to swap between them. Dash, glide, swim, fast travel, and play in optional first-person perspective as you try to find them all. The builders are eliminated, and now there is a ban on creating anything. With a cult, The Children of Hargon, waging a campaign of destruction and outlawing building, it's up to you to save the day, with the help of some friends, of course. The option should be turned on by default anyway, but make sure Show Character Outline is activated in the settings, as it will show your position even when you're behind objects, so you can always tell exactly where you are.

By pressing the touchpad you'll access a bird's eye view of the surrounding area in Dragon Quest Builders 2, which is useful for getting your bearings and checking the layout of your current build, as well as for spotting enemies.

Your residents are also much more helpful this time around too. For one, there's an overload of dialogue-sometimes, I just want the banter between Malroth and the other townspeople to stop so I can do a quest.

It also features four-player multiplayer should you decide to play with others. These are the characters we spend time with in Dragon Quest Builders 2. This made me care a lot more for my NPC buddies than I did in the first game as their many hands did help make my work a bit lighter.

In Dragon Question Builders 2, each character does their own thing, and contributes to a larger cause - building a town - in a way that is relevant to their character. If you liked the original Dragon Quest Builders, this is a must-play.

Apparently, a massive chunk of the audience would like to see a potential Dragon Quest IX remake come out on the Switch, although at this point nothing has been decided.
