Barcelona Sign Antoine Griezmann

Barcelona Sign Antoine Griezmann

The Antoine Griezmann transfer saga is finally over - or is it?

Barcelona have yet to respond to Atletico's statement, but this disagreement was mentioned several weeks ago, as Griezmann confirmed he wanted to leave the Madrid club and move to the Nou Camp.

Antoine Griezmann has signed for Barcelona for €120million, the club confirmed on Friday.

The stats Griezmann amassed in five seasons with Atletico Madrid show just how important was to the team's cause. Griezmann's release clause dropped from €200m on July 1, and sources told ESPN FC at the time that the Blaugrana were working on a deal for the attacker.

According to the same story, FC Barcelona are hoping to use Coutinho as part of a package deal for the world's most expensive player Neymar this summer.

Asked about the club's statement following Barcelona's signing of Griezmann, in which they demand the full 200 million, Cerezo said: "If the club has released that statement, it's because they have evidence". Atletico claim they are due €80m more, because they feel the agreement between Barcelona and Griezmann predates the reduction in the buyout clause.

Antoine Griezmann signed for Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014.

He rejected an offer from Barcelona previous year and revealed his thought process in a documentary called The Decision.

"It was also prior to the date on which the clause was modified the communication that the player made on May 14 announcing his disengagement from the club".

Following an internal debate, though, with Bartomeu and coach Ernesto Valverde both advocates for the signing, they chose to reactivate their interest in him.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup victor, Griezmann, 28, scored 185 goals in 459 club appearances.
