Ed Sheeran was the highest placed British star on the list, which ranks the world's top paid celebrities in music, sports and entertainment according to what they made over the last 12 months.

Swift beat out 21-year-old Kylie Jenner's estimated $170 million - which landed the makeup mogul the number two spot on the list - and 42-year-old Kanye West, who takes the number three spot with $150 million. The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star and beauty business owner isn't too far with a reported $170 million in earnings.

Forbes also listed the estimated 2019 earnings of several athletes-including Cristiano Ronaldo and Aaron Rodgers-as well as those of several movie stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Bradley Cooper and Dwayne Johnson.

The top highest-paid male celebrity on the list is rapper Kanye West with $150m (£120m) in earnings in third spot overall.

Swift earned much of that money from touring.

A big portion of this fortune came from the artist's Reputation Stadium Tour.

Forbes noted that Swift's 2018 "Reputation" stadium trek was the highest grossing tour in US history at $266.1 million, and also that the artist benefitted from a new deal with Universal's Republic label and the sharing of proceeds from Universal's sale of its Spotify stake. Including the worldwide run of the tour, Forbes clocked her gross earnings in at $345 million.
