Delta flight makes emergency landing after engine failure

A passenger caught some of it on camera when a flight attendant tried to calm everyone down and prepare them for the landing.

"After we heard the boom, we just saw all this smoke come up into the cabin, and that's when we really started freaking out", another passenger told CNN.

"It started slowing down a little bit and it was getting hot", passenger Avery Porch told WMAR-TV.

Footage posted to social media by passenger Logan Webb shows one of the engine's nose cones, also known as a spinner, being tossed around a jet turbine.

Passengers on board a Delta Air Lines flight in the United States have recalled the frightening moments when an engine malfunction forced their plane to make an emergency landing.

Almost 150 passengers on Delta Flight 1425 were headed from Atlanta to Baltimore on Monday when one of the aircraft's engines had a problem, the airline said. "I was about to be the first person to jump off".

Her boyfriend, Tyler Kreuger, said that, fearing the worst, he had texted "I love you" to his parents.

It remains to be seen if there's pro bowl level talent that will come out of this year's class, but it's always a possibility. Many speculated that Thompson could be had with a fourth or fifth-round pick and that proved to be correct.

Passengers say they were in the air for more than an hour when the pilot gave them news of the emergency landing in North Carolina.

Some passengers reported hearing a loud noise.

"After, the cabin filled with smoke and seat belt signs went on and off, and you could smell something was burning".

The aircraft involved in the engine failure incident yesterday was an MD-88, a plane now being phased out by airlines across the world.

"The flight landed without incident and customers were reaccommodated on an alternate aircraft".

Delta released a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and passengers said they were given a $30 food voucher while they waited to leave Raleigh.
