Spotify Lite with support for 2G connections comes to 36 markets today

Spotify Lite is now available on the Google Play Store and can be used alongside your full-fat app.

At 10MB, the app is a smaller download than the main version and comes with the ability to set a data limit and get a notification when reaching that limit.

Spotify has just launched a Lite version of its Android app that's created to work well on low-end devices and spotty connections.

"We announced the availability of Spotify Lite Beta in India a couple of months ago to gauge user interest, which was high". It is created to work in areas with limited bandwidth, said Kalle Persson, senior product manager at Spotify.

They agreed that a sustainable peace in Afghanistan would only be achieved through comprehensive and inclusive intra-Afghan talks. The latest Doha meeting was the third such meeting following landmark summits in Moscow in February and May.

While the regular Spotify app, which is available globally, will also work on Android 4.1 and above, a number of key new features in the Lite version make it better suited when you don't have much processing power, bandwidth or storage to play with. Citing a company spokesperson, TechCrunch reported that there are no plans to bring the Lite app to iOS.

Spotify Lite for Android is now official, launching today across 36 countries.

The main Spotify app came to India is February and amassed one million followers within the week of its launch.

Like other Lite apps, Spotify Lite is focused on conserving data, allowing users to have greater control over the amount of data the app uses. As of March 2019, the music platform reported 217 million users with 46 percent of them being paid subscribers (100 million). However, the app also seems to be available to USA and European Android users.
