Liverpool looking to extend Klopp's contract

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the bad news that winger Xherdan Shaqiri tore a calf muscle whilst on global duty and as such, he will be unavailable for the start of pre-season.

Since then, the German manager has led Liverpool to two Champions League finals, including one final win.

The Merseysiders rounded off a superb campaign in 2018-19 by winning the Champions League, after amassing a club-record points tally in the Premier League.

It's been over a month now since Liverpool conquered the Wanda Metropolitano to win their sixth European crown, beating Tottenham 2-0 in a final that they always looked in control of.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that Klopp's Liverpool are not resting, and are instead actively "looking for reinforcements in order to build a more competitive squad".

"Of course we move on", Klopp told Liverpool's website late Sunday. It's not that wherever we go it's like, 'Morning, we won the Champions League!'.

Liverpool have beaten Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG to the highly-rated youngster who became the Premier League's youngest player when he featured against Wolves in May aged 16 years and 30 days. "That's something you can get addicted to, you want to have that much more often".

Jurgen Klopp's agent has revealed that while the Liverpool boss is keen on managing Germany, he remains happy at Anfield for the time being.

"Jurgen himself once said that in the event that Joachim Low someday no longer wants to be the national coach and it would be possible for him do that, this is an option for him, but he has a contract until 2022", said Kosicke.

"Liverpool would even like to extend it (his current contract)", he added.
