Karolina Pliskova out of Wimbledon last 16, Ashleigh Barty keeps top spot

Karolina Pliskova out of Wimbledon last 16, Ashleigh Barty keeps top spot

55 women's tennis player - stunned No. 1 Ashleigh Barty by beating her in the round of 16 at Wimbledon on Monday at the All-England Club in London.

Serena Williams may never get a better chance of equalling Margaret Court's Grand Slam title record of 24 with the Wimbledon quarter-finals bereft of the leading lights in women's tennis.

"Absolutely no regrets", Barty said after falling a set short of becoming the first Australian since Jelena Dokic 19 years ago to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

"I think ultimately just to have overcome the matches the way that I have, I think that ultimately is what I'm most excited about."
Riske broke for a 5-3 lead in the final set and clinched her win on her first match point when Barty sent a backhand wide.

Speaking to media, Barty threw it back to 1999 and The Wonderful World of Disney version of Annie by stating that, despite the bitter loss, "the sun is still gonna come up tomorrow". Barty also told reporters she has no regrets and that she wouldn't change anything, despite the outcome of her last match. "Then in the second set, I think my serve let me down".

"I've seen her play a lot recently, too".

And while Riske's level of play was widely praised, her noise levels weren't.

Pelosi says her remark about Dem freshmen was ‘statement of fact’
On Friday, Pelosi aired a series of grievances in the New York Times , hitting back at Ocasio-Cortez and fellow progressives, Rep. Pelosi's comments about the freshmen representatives came during a New York Times interview, published on Saturday, after Reps.

Williams has teamed up with another former world number one Andy Murray in the mixed doubles to accrue more matches and she said that the more she played she more she was finding her rhythm.

"Overall I didn't play a poor match".

She improved to 14-1 on grass courts this season and reached the first major quarterfinal of her career in 30 appearances.

"Disappointing. That's probably one of the parts of my game today I'm disappointed with the most".

"I know that I can play, and now that I'm feeling better physically, I nearly feel a relief more than anything", Williams said. There, she fended off a break point in game five with a backhand drive-volley victor at the net, moving ahead with another flawless forehand down the line victor and sealing the deal with a nice hold in the next game to stay on the title course. Riske lost a total of eight games in eight WPIAL and PIAA singles tournament matches played at Hempfield High School and the Hershey Racquet Club, respectively. "I don't know anyone that isn't", she said.

But that became her Achilles heel, with her first-serve percentage dropping to 40 in the second set. Again, I'm ready for a war.

In another stunner, No. 3 seed Karolina Pliskova lost to fellow Czech Karolina Muchova in a 4-6, 7-5, 13-11 epic matchup that lasted three hours and 18 minutes.
