Jackson to Play Chris Rock’s Father in New ‘Saw’ Movie

Previously, we'd heard how Rock was spearheading a return for the Saw franchise, with the famed amusing man a huge fan of the Saw series. "When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in", Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said.

As Lionsgate powers forward with its next Saw installment, now comes word that Samuel L. Jackson will be starring alongside Chris Rock in the movie.

Interestingly, this is a change in genre for Samuel L Jackson and Chris Rock's careers. Joining them will be Max Minghella, who'll step into the shoes of William Schenk, Rock's partner, and Marisol Nichols as Capt. Angie Garza, Rock's boss. However, the studio promises fans of the franchise that it will have all the elements of the previous films including clever clues and the edge-of-the-seat suspense.

Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the Saw canon and we can't wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise.

As previously reported, Rock conceived the story and Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg penned the screenplay.

Saw films, which involve the mutilation of victims at the whim of the sadistic Jigsaw, is getting a reboot.

Look for the new Saw on the big screen October 23, 2020.

The last attempt to revive this franchise didn't quite work out, with 2017's Jigsaw failing to make much noise.
