Nets officially acquire KD in sign-and-trade deal with Warriors

The Brooklyn Nets officially added forward Kevin Durant on Sunday, announcing his arrival as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Golden State Warriors a week after the 10-time All-Star announced his intentions to join Brooklyn. I will always honor him and honor the number 35.

"35 was chosen in honour of someone very near and dear to me".

This isn't the first time that we've seen Durant leverage his popularity to drive eyeballs over to his businesses - he revealed that he'd announce his free agent decision on his Instagram channel, The Boardroom, but Adrian Wojnarowski had other plans.

Durant is a perennial All-Star and two-time National Basketball Association champion after winning Finals MVP honors with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. The four-time National Basketball Association scoring champion revealed on social media that he'll be sporting No. 7 with Brooklyn.

Bob Myers also commented on Kevin Durant's departure: "We're thankful to Kevin for the incredible things he did for our team and our franchise during his three years with the Warriors". He missed most of this past season's playoffs, first with a calf injury and then the Achilles rupture during the NBA Finals - a series Golden State lost to Toronto in six games.

While surprising for some, the entire season had this ominous feeling of being Durant's last with the Warriors and Irving's relationship with the Celtics soured to the point that by the time their season ended no one expected him to return.

Portis signed a two-year, $31 million deal with the Knicks not long after free agency began.

"We're excited to add a player of D'Angelo's ability to our roster", Myers said.
