Ambassador Leaks Are a 'Matter of Regret', Britain Tells U.S.

The British government was hunting Monday for the source of a leak of diplomatic cables from Britain's ambassador in Washington that branded President Donald Trump's administration "dysfunctional" and "inept".

"I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well thought of within the US We will no longer deal with him", Mr Trump said in a Twitter post that also criticised outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May.

"I hope we get to the bottom of it, and of course there will be very serious consequences if and when we find out who was responsible".

He said it was "unlikely that USA policy on Iran is going to become more coherent any time soon" as "this is a divided administration".

The leaked cables are expected to cause some diplomatic tension between the two countries.

"How can officials give honest advice to politicians if it is stored and leaked for petty point-scoring?"

In the memos, which were accessed by Daily Mail, Sir Kim has described bitter conflicts within White House as "knife fights".

Despite Trump's characterisation of news stories about infighting in his administration as "fake news", Darroch also said officials should believe them.

The subliminal message is: "choose Johnson and Number 10 will soon be as dysfunctional as the White House", Ford pointed out. But we pay them to be candid, just as the US Ambassador here will send back his reading of Westminster politics and personalities.

President Trump once suggested that Farage, then in semi-retirement after his victory in the Brexit referendum, would do a "great job" as British ambassador himself, but the British government chose not to take advantage of his strong links with the American leader, insisting there was "no vacancy" for the position and that Sir Kim was an "excellent ambassador".

RUMOR: Rockets Emerge as 'Likely Suitor' For Russell Westbrook
Westbrook, an 11-year veteran, has spent his entire career in Oklahoma City, averaging 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.4 assists. Tyson Chandler is also a likely target for the Rockets in their search for backup big, a source told ESPN .

Mr Trump may "emerge from the flames, battered but intact, like [Arnold] Schwarzenegger in the final scenes of 'The Terminator, '" Mr Darroch further said.

"Darroch was not reporting back to London what was going on, as a professional ambassador would have done, but was instead advancing his own subjective opinions", Farage pointed out.

Trade Minister Liam Fox said he will apologize directly to President Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, a White House adviser, who he is expected to meet while in Washington.

Britain's Foreign Office declined to comment on Darroch's remarks, but did not deny the authenticity of the leaked documents.

Mr Fox, who is visiting the USA, told the BBC: "This is such a damaging, potentially damaging, event that I hope the full force of our internal discipline, or even the law, will come down on whoever actually carried out this particular act".

Wintour wrote that Sedwill "may not fill that bill, but Nigel Farage - who pretty openly campaigned for the job before Darroch's appointment in 2016 - does".

He also advised British officials to flatter Trump.

"Our ambassadors provide honest, unvarnished assessments of politics in their country - those views are not necessarily the views of ministers or indeed of the government", May's spokesman said.

Darroch, 65, a former national security adviser to the United Kingdom government and a career diplomat, has been the British ambassador in Washington since January 2016.
