Barcelona hold talks with Atletico over Griezmann signing

France forward Griezmann, 28, said in May he would leave Atletico this summer and has buyout clause of 120m euros.

The club have told Griezmann he must present himself for preseason training next Sunday with the rest of his players.

Atletico Madrid have accused Barcelona and Antoine Griezmann of a "lack of respect" after the Catalan giants' president Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed yesterday that the two clubs had held talks about the signing of the France worldwide.

"On May 14, Antoine Griezmann informed Miguel Angel Gil, Diego Pablo Simeone and Andrea Berta of his decision to leave our club at the end of the season", the statement said. "In the days following this meeting, Atlético Madrid became aware that Barcelona and Griezmann met in March, specifically, in the days following the loss to Juventus in the Champions League". It said Barcelona and Griezmann had been negotiating the terms of the agreement since mid-February.

Atletico said it believes the behavior "violates the protected periods of negotiation with players and alters the basic rules of integrity in any sporting competition, as well as causing enormous damage to our club and its millions of fans".

The explosion happened on Saturday morning at a shopping center in Plantation, west of Fort Lauderdale in Broward county. Plantation Fire and Rescue report "multiple patients" following a gas explosion at a shopping center.

If they can't reach an agreement with Atletico, they will pay Griezmann's release clause after the weekend.

However, in another remarkable claim made on Friday, Atletico say the Catalan giants have asked to defer payment, a proposal Los Colchoneros have dismissed. "The French player (now without the No.7 at Atletico) followed that instruction to leave the club in a friendly way".

Barcelona also introduced Frenkie de Jong, the 22-year-old midfielder who was signed from Ajax earlier this year for 75 million euros ($84 million). Plans are already underway to present him at Camp Nou next week.
