Leonard to sign with Los Angeles Clippers, report

The 2019 NBA MVP Finalist spent just two seasons with the Thunder - one via trade and another as a free agent. The NBA Finals MVP is heading to Los Angeles, but to play for the Clippers.

Green was included in last summer's Kawhi Leonard trade to the Toronto Raptors as salary filler, after playing through a groin injury in 2017-18 and seeing his production dip as a result.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski had the details.

In order to acquire George, the Clippers will send guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and forward Danilo Gallinari to Oklahoma City. Prior to Saturday's league-shattering announcement, reports from every single news outlet claim that the Clippers were already out of the race and that Leonard's decision was essentially down to the Raptors and Lakers.

To their credit, even without George, the Clippers are fresh off a solid 2018-19 campaign in which they battled their way into the postseason despite having no clear star on their roster.

Leonard, who led the Toronto Raptors to their first National Basketball Association championship after he was acquired in a trade from the San Antonio Spurs last July, reportedly selected the Clippers over the Raptors and Los Angeles Lakers.

While the Lakers already have LeBron James and Anthony Davis-pending the completion of their own mega-trade-has totally reshaped the National Basketball Association as well as the balance of power.

"After Leonard pushed George to find a way to get to the Clippers, Paul George approached the team and requested a trade, league sources tell ESPN". Once he chose to sign with the LA Clippers instead, the Lakers moved to the alternatives they had lined up in case they didn't land Leonard. And no one, really, envisioned Paul George coming with him.
